T30SB Commentary: The picture on the right is me pointing out the beauty/detail of a Lhuillier dress. Even the lining is scalloped with pinking shears. Each little scallop has a tone on tone butterfly (or is it a dragonfly?) on it. GORGEOUS!

mv2

mv3

T30SB Commentary: If that is not a “SQUEEEEEEEE” face, I don’t know what is.

mv4

Who was your favorite vendor and why?

It had to be Holly, my florist. Not only is she a brilliant floral designer, but she is an amazing person who makes you want to hug her because she is so awesome. She had us over to her farmhouse/greenhouse/studio in the country where we had chats about life, self-esteem, boys, you name it!! She even made an EXTRA bouquet for me on my wedding day, just because!! They were these stunning pink peonies, and I had to choose between those and the original Picasso Callas that I ended up carrying. Tough choice. A close second favorite were the owner and my consultant at the dress shop, who couldn’t have been sweeter, more accommodating, and patient with an inexperienced bride!

mv5

T30SB Commentary: I manned the bar. What? It is a VERY important role.

 mv6

Was there a “method to your madness” in choosing your vendors?

Yes. My new sister-in-law is a wedding planner, and she had lots of great advice to give on local vendors. I used a lot of her recommendations! For other vendors, I chose based upon Wedding Wire reviews along with the impressions of my existing vendors. Everyone knows everyone in the wedding biz and everybody has an opinion!!

mv7

How long did you take to plan your wedding?

5 months. It flew by!

How many guests did you invite versus how many came?

We invited 238 and 188 came. I had a lot of cousins across the country that I knew wouldn’t come, but wanted to invite them anyway.

mv8

T30SB Commentary: This picture of Marie’s mom gets me all choked up every time I see it! That’s Marie’s beautiful sister getting her make-up did.

mv9

T30SB Commentary: I’ve tried for years to hate the natural beauty in this family, but they are just too sweet not to love!

What was your budget?

It was in the mid 5-figures range. My parents were incredibly generous, but we DEFINITELY had a number to stick to that my dad refused to go over. My hubs and I paid for a lot of the things ourselves, such as the ice luge, favors, ceremony musicians, portrait studio, DJ, and 1942 green and red Studebaker that drove me down the pier to the ceremony.

Did you include rings and/or the honeymoon in your budget?

Nope.

mv10

T30SB Commentary: I love the first picture because I remember jumping up and down and clapping once she was in her dress. I love the second picture because of the look on Marie’s face. It’s like she’s thinking, “How many of you does it take to get me into this damn thing?”

mv11

mv12

T30SB Commentary: The ladies actually set this picture up. There is an identical picture from Marie’s mom’s wedding with her mother and sister in the same positions. So sweet!

mv13

Were you over or under budget? By how much?

We actually came in right around our target number! Dad was happy!

How large was your bridal party?

Just two. My sister and my hubby’s best childhood friend.

mv14

$R47RBL2

T30SB Commentary: This guy was so cool. He played volleyball with The Wookie in college and he flew in from Russia for the big event!

mv15

Did you have favors for your guests? If so, what were they? How much did you spend?

Yes. We had pairs of bride and groom pretzel rods - the “bride” in a white chocolate wedding dress (with purple shoes to match mine) and a chocolate tuxedo for the “groom”. I think I spent around $500. They were yummy – I had one on the way home the next day!
