{E-Sesh} Love in Central Park

So one of the things that was said fairly often in the survey(you can still take it!) I posted a while back was that y’all didn’t like engagement shoots on the blog! WHA? You people are crazy-pants-banana-cakes ALL THE WAY.

That’s right, capital letters and italics. I  might just go back and bold and underline.

When we hired our photographer (shameless love plug ), we were informed of this thing called an engagement shoot. In my mind’s eye I pictured a Olen Mills-esque newspaper clipping and I quickly decided I would NOT do it. But then I changed my mind. Because I discovered blogs. I thought it would be fun. And it was. And I thought it would make me feel more comfortable with my photographer. And it did. And I love the photos. They are fun and completely us.

So I love a cute e-sesh. I think they’re fun and give brides some idea of how they might want to best epress themselves in their won shoot.

I simply adore the story these pictures tell of Evan and Craig, a New York couple in the best of all New York icononic spaces, Central Park.

So all you e-sesh naysayers? I say your nutso. Everyone else? Enjoy!

(Unfake Engagement Shoot!} A Last Bit of Winter…

I’m not sure how these folks had ANY amount of snow this winter…but it’s Kansas. You know how Kansas  can be. It’s such a rogue state.

Bill and Sarah are longtime sweethearts who finally decided to tie the knot. While their wedding is set to take place in Kansas City, they wanted to incorporate the town they love most, Lawrence, (where they met) into their engagement photos. They also wanted some fun in the snow.  The image with the individuals cheering in the background?  Taken at Allen Fieldhouse for ESPN's College Game Day.

{Unfake Engagement Shoot} Andrew & Alyson Rock it Out!

I looooooooove this Unfake Engagement Shoot! Love.

The couple is from Seattle, Washington, and they’re gettin’ hitched in June. Alyson and Andrew will be married at Central Cinema, the location for this fun engagement shoot! Their reception will be held at the Georgetown Ballroom.

Wanna hear something totally romantic about this couple? Andrew still has the napkin Alyson gave him with her phone number on it. SO CUTE, right?

Anyway, the couple wanted a rock-n-roll vibe for their engagement shoot, so they rocked out on stage at the Ballroom and hammed it up around town.   Enjoy!

{Unfake Engagement Shoot} Kim & David: When Big City and Country Collide!

Kim and David are set to be married in April 2012. They are complete opposites, yet they fit together perfectly.

To this, I can relate. I’ve lived in large cities and been around the world more times than I can count. The Candyman prefers his coastal Carolina roots to just about anywhere else (except Hawaii) and informs me of this fact on the regular.

But I digress…back to our cute couple. Kim is the city girl with a closet full of shoes. She loves live theatre, shopping and the fast-paced city lifestyle. She almost always has a smile on her face and a Starbuck's cup in hand.

David is a home-grown country boy. He'd rather watch the nature channel than American Idol and nothing makes him happier than a home-cooked meal. Too bad Kim can't cook.

For their engagement session, photographer Meagan O’Neal decided to do a "dual" session that would really show off their different personalities. They started the day at a barn while the sun came up.  They ended the shoot on the bright streets of Atlanta in front of the Fox Theatre.

I love that the pictures are a physical representation of him stepping into her world and her into his. As it should be, right?

{Unfake E-Shoot} Board Games and Barns! Jessica + Gordie

It’s been a while since I’ve featured the work of my Nashville Wedding Photographer, Jonathon Campbell Photography. So when I got this submission from his wife (and my friend) Sharon, I called her  to catch up and to get all the Nashville wedding industry gossip. Not that there’s anything really juicy other than all the babies that have been born recently! It just makes me so happy that we choose Jonathon Campbell as our photographer. He has the sweetest nature and his wife Sharon has an incredible knack for reading situations and people that’s almost uncanny. We connected with them as people and I can’t stress again how important that is when choosing your vendors!

So back to this Unfake E-Shoot. Gordie and Jessica love them some board games! This picnic and playful engagement session was held at a farm/venue in Franklin, TN. The casual atmosphere gave the couple a chance to relax and to show who they are as a couple.
