It’s Ombré, Hombre.
Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 8:00AM It’s hot. It’s happening. It’s colorific fantastickness (it is so a word) that’s all over everything fashionable. That includes weddings.
It’s ombré. It’s everywhere. In case you need to know exactly what we’re talking about?
— ombré noun
Having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark.
Here’s some more examples…
Rose petals down the aisle. Thanks to The Martha.

Tea-stained escort cards.
Invitations via Etsy seller Whitney Rae Paper.
Ombré bouquet from Lauryl Lane Botanical Stylist.
A little ombré fascinator I’m working on for TruLu Couture.
Love the simplicity of this pretty little cake via Balancing Bites.
White to dark ivory wedding gown via NY Mag.
One thing about the look is: don’t ombré do it. You don’t want everything to be ombré . Choose an aspect – like all your paper products. Or the flowers. You might also consider a few separate things, like the cake and the invitations, using a color or two plus an accent as a whole story. Remember, it’s FIVE COLORS!
And remember the definition? It’s light to dark. That doesn’t mean a rainbow. People are calling stuff ombré that not’s really ombré.
I’m just sayin’.
Be careful with the color choice, keep it simple. Less is more in this case! You can follow a trend without being trendy.
What do y’all think? I’m loving the really soft ombré, not so much the bright stuff.
